Objective To explore the influencing factors of mental health in patients with sudden deafness. Methods A descriptive design was used in this study.99 patients with sudden deafness were selected as subjects. The Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90),Coping Style Questionnaire and a questionnaire of general state of health and state of illness were applied. Results The total score of SCL-90 of patients was(133.71±35.36) and of the total, the scores of somatization, terror and psychoticism were higher than those of the norm and the differences revealed statistical significance(P0.01).The detection rate of positive factors was 49% and multivariate analysis showed that the variances included in regression equation such as career and passive coping style(P0.01).Different careers affected the total score of SCL-90,and score of passive coping style was linear to the total score of SCL-90.Conclusion Patients with sudden deafness have poor mental health.Career and passive coping style are the main factors exerting influences on mental health of patients with sudden deafness.
