Based on summarizing the theory study and practice experience,the career range of engineering cost personnel is made clear.The career path of engineering cost personnel includes three ways（degree education,vocational education,and continuing education）,three kinds of ability（basic skills,professional ability,experts ability）,three stages（determination stage,review stage,establishment stage）.By discuss its theory significance and practice from different aspects,we obtained that the application trend of foundation and professional knowledge is the process from application to create to innovation.
