The background of the Changjiang and Pearl River Watershed Rehabilitation Project is summa- rized firstly, followed by a discussion on the methodology and significance of the participatory approach promoted in the project. The author then explains how a participatory approach fits into project managerial activities including sub-watershed planning, procurement, check and acceptance, and monitoring and e- valuation. In the end, the paper presents a comment on the differences, advantages and disadvantages of the application of participatory approaches in domestic and international funded projects.
