梯玛信仰是土家族传统文化的核心,它既体现为土家人的刚健性格和乐观精神,也隐含着土家人的生存意识、集体意识。在土家族女作家叶梅的中篇小说《撒忧的龙船河》和《最后的土司》中,梯玛信仰是结构文本的核心因素。对于小说世界中的土家人民,梯玛信仰潜在地引导和约束着他们的生活,根筑了他们生活的勇气和期冀;而对于作家叶梅而言,写作即展演土家文化,这不但饱含了她对土家文化的认同,也饱含了她在多元文化碰撞的态势中对本民族命运的思考。

Thima culture is the core of traditional Tujia culture, including the vigorous personality and optimistic spirit, the living consciousness and collective consciousness of Tujia people. This could be seen from Ye Mei＇s novels ＇ The River of Dragon-boat in Saryou＇ and ＇ The Last Chieftain＇. Thima belief restricted and guided the Tujia People life in the novel and gave them the courage and hope of living, while to the writer, Ye Mei, writing shew the Tujia culture. This not only contained her recognition to the Tujia culture but also contained her consideration to the fate of her own ethnic group in the impact of multi-cultural situation.
