The Literary Life of Our Age

大众传媒上有许多文学的消息,可是没有文学本身。这是我们这个时代文学生活的一种形式,而且是多数人熟悉的形式。这个时代文学生活的另一重大方面是娱乐、娱乐的文学,包括从侦探、武侠、言情、科幻到新的玄幻、穿越等种类。但娱乐文学与我们真实的人生经验联系不多,或者说基本没有联系。娱乐文学的另一特点是大众拥有巨大的话语权,但各个专门的领域内大众所占有的权重需要重新考虑。文学不仅仅是娱乐,还应该更为深入地理解人的复杂性,解释其他学科无法揭示的各种微妙的、纠结的人生波澜,发挥出改善人生经验的巨大潜能。文学的特殊聚焦点是日常生活的各种细节,文学必须深入到这个层面,不仅关注社会历史,同时还关注人生。

Mass media teems with rumors of literature but literature itself. This is a form of the literary life of our age, a form that is familiar to many of us. Another aspect of the literary life of our age is entertainment and entertaining literature, including detective stories, chivalry novels, love stories, science fictions, and fantasy novels. Entertaining literature has little to do with our real life experience. Although the fact that the public has enormous discursive power is its another feature, the weight of public discursive power in each field should be reconsidered. Literature is more than entertainment; it should probe more deeply into the complexity of man, interpret the subtle knotted life waves that no other disciplines can give a satisfactory explanation, and bring out its potential of improving life experience. The special focus of literature is the ins and outs of daily life, so literature should dig to this level, caring not only social history, but life as well. K
