This paper summarized the types and properties of biodegradable polyvinyl alcohol polymer, discussed the application research progress of PVA in the field of textile, paper, oilfield, functional polymer materials, coatings, surface active agents, etc. and predicted the research direction in modification of polyvinyl alcohol.
