摘要
在深亚微米时代,基带芯片的规模已达到23百万门,芯片面积达到近25mm2,而2G/3G通讯模块占到了整个芯片约50%的面积,对基带芯片的低功耗研究具有重大意义。基带芯片中的GSM模块大部分时间处于空闲状态,可以将其时钟关断从而降低功耗。本文提出了一种适用于基带芯片的高精度GSM休眠定时器算法,可以精确地在TDMA帧边界打开GSM模块的时钟源,能够取得明显的功耗优化效果。
In deep sub-micron era, a base-band chip has a size of 25mm2, with 23 million gates. While 2G/3G modems take up more than 50 percent area of the whole chip, the research of low power dissipation of base-band chip is significantly valuable. The GSM modem of a base-band chip is in idle state for most of its time, so it should be clock-gated as to reducing power consumption. In this paper, a high precise GSM sleep timer algorithm is proposed, which could cut off the clock source of GSM modem precisely at the edge of TDMA frame. This algorithm can markedly reduce the power dissipation.
