Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services （PIVAS）, as an important part of modem hospital pharmacy, is an advanced intravenous fluid technology and management mode. Its characteristics are sterile configuration, strict audit, safe operation and proper management. Establishing PIVAS can effectively promote rational use of drugs and improve clinical pharmacy and nursing. It saves manpower and material resourcess and reduces waste. In addition, PIVAS protects medical staff from occupational toxicants and improves work efficiency by optimizing the allocation of human resources. PIVAS has been the trend of the times. The present paper mainly studies the significance of PIVAS by reviewing pertinent literatures. Furthermore, it is hoped that this review could provide theoretical basis for further researches and applications of PIVAS.
