On the Southern Buddhism and Compulsory Education for Boys in Gengma

上座部佛教本身并不反对学校教育,也不干预学校教育,但它的思想、理论在傣族人民的意识中影响极大,从而影响着傣族文化教育的发展。面对佛教与傣族文化教育之间出现的学校教育与佛教活动在时间上的矛盾,宗教习俗与普及教育的矛盾,要求我们正确处理好两者之间的关系,发展民族教育事业。

The Southern Buddhism itself neither goes against School education and nor interferes education , but it produces great impact on the thought and theory of the Dai people , so it influences greatly on the development of the Dai people＇ s culture. We should deal in a correct way with the contradiction between the Dai cultural education and the religion activities , religion customs and education, so that the ethnic education can have a better development.
