An Analysis of Kumarajive's Translation from the Perspective of Translation Norm——With the Translation of The Diamond Sutra as the Case

鸠摩罗什是我国著名的佛经翻译家,其译经以简洁流畅、注重文采和易于理解而出名,翻译的许多佛经至今仍然非常流行。本文以《金刚经》为例探讨鸠摩罗什的翻译特点,并尝试从翻译规范的角度解析译者采用这种翻译策略的深层社会文化背景及原因。

Kumarajive is one of the most renowned Buddhist scripture translators in China. Many of the Buddhist scriptures translated by him are still popular up to now due to their conciseness, fluency, elegance and ease of understanding. This paper explores into the characteristics of Kumarajive＇s translation with his version of The Diamond Sutra as an example, arid tries to analyze the deeper social and cultural reasons for the adoption of his translation strategies.
