A comparative study of reading comprehension in CET and IELTS

IELTS和CET是国内较有影响的两种英语测试.对CET和IELTS阅读测试部分题型中常用的两种阅读测试多项选择题与填空题进行比较分析.认为IELTS阅读的题型形式和测试的内容更科学、更能全面考察考生阅读理解能力,对我国非英语专业大学英语阅读教学与测试有很好的借鉴作用.

College English Test（CET） and The International English Language Testing System（IELTS）are two influential tests in China.Reading comprehension part based on the two tests is analyzed comparatively.The result shows that the two tests are different in text forms,text length,text topic,text questions and number of text questions.Through a comparative study of question types（multiple choices and summary） and a comprehensive review of theories on reading process and on reading test form in the reading tests of IELTS and CET,it is concluded that the reading comprehension test in IELTS,by adopting various question types,is superior to that in CET as far as construct coverage is concerned.The findings may shed light on the construction of reading comprehension test in CET.
