Preliminary Study of Wu Jun's Ci Fu

吴筠既是唐代著名高道,也是杰出的辞赋家。他的赋歌颂了闲适恬淡的隐居生活,展现了崎岖坎坷的修道历程,对现实世界往往也具有批判的精神。他的赋蕴含着以天下为己任的儒家忧世情怀及向往山林、追求逍遥自由、希求延命成仙的道教文化意蕴,对当时的假隐之风也进行了批判。同时,还具有浓厚的道教色彩及丰富的道教哲学思想。在语言表达方面,善于化用或引用前人语句、篇名入赋;在赋的表现方式方面,善用比兴手法,不愧为唐代卓有成就的赋家。

Wu Jun was a distinguished Taoist who acquired profound attainments in the Tang Dynasty. He was an outstanding writer of Ci Fu as well. His odes extolled the lives in seclusion of leisure and quietness, demonstrated the hard path of practicing Taoist rules, involving critical spirit to the actual world. Wu＇ s odes included Confucian feelings of worrying the world by taking it as his own duty and Taoist cultural implication of yearning for mountain forest, seeking carefree and freedom and desiring for prolonging life and becoming immortal.Wu also criticized on the fashion of living in seclusion at that time. Wu＇ s odes spoke in a deep Taoist tone, betraying rich Taoist philosophy. In terms of language performance, Wu was good at borrowing and quoting sentences or titles of former times in his odes; while in terms of manifestation mode, he was clever at rhetorical devices as pi - hsing （ literally, ＂comparing and exalting＂ ）. Wu Jun deserved to be called an outstanding ode writer of the Tang Dynasty.
