The article starts with the shape of logarithmic helix arch. The stress analysis and shape optimization are performed with the finite element analysis. It is based on the multi - arch beam method design and is taken for example in putting forward a solution to its shape optimization. The key problem in arch dam design is about the shape optimization, the research of which is essential to the design＇s security and to lowering the costs.
