Japanese Name and the Culture of Chinese Character

人的名字如同一张名片,除了辨别功能之外还揭示了一个人的国籍、出身、性别、家族等信息。本文在实际调查的基础上,分析了近代日本人名的发展史,日本人名汉字与日本文化、日本社会千丝万缕的联系。日本人在取名时,更看重汉字的字义;表示"积极、正面、向上、进取、友爱、真、善、美"等褒义的汉字始终是日本人名用汉字的主流;日本人名的价值取向反映了日本社会的变化趋势。

A person＇ s name is like a name card, discriminating one from the other and indicating personal information of nationality, hometown, sex, and family background. This paper, based on the practical survey, analyzes the developing history of Japanese name, the relationship among Chinese characters for Japanese name, Japanese culture and society. The findings show that Japanese people consider that the meaning of Chinese character is more important when giving a name. Chinese characters with ＂positive, progressive, enterprising, fraternal, true, generous, or beautiful＂ senses are always the main options. The naming trend also reflects the change in Japanese society. ：
