李约瑟准确地概括了中西文明分水岭出现的现象,但令他百思不得其解;学术界虽出现许多解谜文章,但答案莫衷一是。文章将从中西文明的大视野中来比较、探讨李约瑟难题的文化学原因:轴心时代中西文明难分高低;中华文明崛起的原因是"统一";西方文明崛起的原因是"契约"。

Lee Jose correctly summarised the phenomena of civilization dividing line between China and West but it is difficult for him to understand that there is no clear answer in many articles of academic circles.This paper begins from perspective of China-West civilization to explore the culturology cause of ＂Lee Jose＇s difficult issue：it is difficult to tell which is higher between China-West civilization,the cause of China＇s civilization rise due to ＂unity＂ and West civilization rise depends on ＂contract＂.
