不同的视角会影响人们对相同事物的理解以及言语表达。对于如The farm is short of hands等简单句,学者们通常从转喻理论中以部分代整体的角度对其进行分析。本文在认知语言学的框架下,从图形-背景理论的视角对此类句子进行分析,揭示其认知特点和规律。
Different perspectives influence people's interpretation and expression of the same thing.Sentences like 'The farm is short of hands' are always construed by linguists from the perspective of 'part for whole' metonymy.Based on cognitive linguistics,this paper attempts to analyze this kind of metonymy from one of the fundamental ideas of cognitive linguistics—figure-ground theory,exploring the cognitive characteristics and rules of those simple sentences.
