The Initial Norms in the English Translations of Government Work Reports

运用图里的翻译规范理论对我国政府工作报告的英文翻译进行了较为系统的研究,并找出了影响译者翻译策略决定和译本最终形成的起始规范。由于报告的特殊地位以及译者高度的政治责任感,在翻译过程中,翻译的充分性必须被考虑。而翻译政府工作报告的目的也决定,最终的翻译必须考虑它的接受性。因此,报告的翻译实际上处于图里所说的充分性和接受性的中间地带。

In this thesis,through a descriptive study of the translations of government work reports in the light of Toury＇s translational norms,the author digs out their initial norms.Due to the factor of politics and translators＇high sense of political responsibility,the adequacy must be taken into consideration in the translation of work reports,and the changing world forces translators to keep on finding out the better translation.Meanwhile,the purpose of the translation of work reports and the possible readers outside China urge translators not to ignore acceptability.
