建议在我国统一使用全球通用的正式年代地层单位——埃迪卡拉系(纪)

A CALL TO REPLACE THE CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNIT SINIAN SYSTEM(PERIOD) WITH THE GLOBAL EDIACARAN SYSTEM(PERIOD)

震旦系(纪)的涵义屡屡变更,争论不断,出现过许多问题。系名Sinian(震旦系)和系的"层型剖面"都是在选取"末元古系"的正式名称和"金钉子"的国际竞争中没有得到多数国际学者支持的候选名称和候选剖面。我国最新正式修订的"震旦系(纪)"与全球年代地层(地质年代)单位埃迪卡拉系(纪)的概念完全相当。系一级的全球单位一旦正式建立,就要全球通用。我国从寒武系(纪)至第四系(纪)使用的都是全球正式年代地层(地质年代)单位,因此,使用全球埃迪卡拉系(纪)和停用"震旦系(纪)"既是大势所趋也在情理之中。国际"末元古系"竞争所留下的遗憾应该成为动力,激励我们把我国埃迪卡拉系剖面的底界、内部划分和对比做得更好、更精,以回报国内外同行对我们的期盼。

The definition of the Sinian System （Period） has been changed multiple times and the debate on the concept of the System （Period） has never been stopped since its original publication. The term Sinian and the ＂stratotype section＂ of the system were not chosen as the formal name of the informal ＂terminal Proterozoic system （period）＂ and the GSSP of the system respectively during the international competi- tions. The Sinian System （Period）, as defined by the most recent revision, is equivalent to that of the global Ediacaran System （Period） which has been approved by the International Commission on Stratigra- phy and ratified by the International Union of Geological Sciences. Thus, we recommend that the Ediaca- ran System be adopted to replace the ＂Sinian System＂ despite the popularity of the latter term among Chinese stratigraphers.
