中甜──甘糖４号为多粒雄性不育杂交种，较抗（耐）甜菜丛根病，适应性广。在１９９４－１９９５年的国家区域试验（１６个试验点）中，有１５个试验点的产质量达到极显著水平，达到国家“八五”科技攻关标准的试验点有３个，３点平均根产量为２８８１ｋｇ／亩，含糖率为 １４．６５℃，产糖量为４２２．１ｋｇ／亩，分别比对照品种工农２号增加 ８３１.７％，＋ ５．５１°Ｓ， １６２７．７％。

Zhongtian-Gatang 4 is a muleigerm male sterile hybrid. This variety has good character with better resistance to rhizomania and wide adatability, It has been tested in nationl sugar beet regional tests with 16 Iocations in 1994 - 1995. The yield and quality is over the check varieties and the standard of the national science technology studies in 3 Iocations. The average rout yield, sugar content and sugar yield were 2 881kg/666.7m2, 14.65%, and 422. 1kg/666.7m2 which all have increased higher than the check variety (Gongnong 2) 831.7%, 5.51° S, l 627.7% respectively in the 3 locations.
