From Heaven to Reality: Another Discussion on Architecture in China

经过新世纪以来的十年发展,中国的建筑无论类型还是品质均有大幅度的提升,其中大量标志性建筑由境外建筑师完成,成为各个城市角逐实力的标杆。在大力发展标志性建筑的同时,同样需要脚踏实地、实事求是地面对具体问题,寻求解决措施。中国建筑师在当前面对诸多挑战的历史时期,需要承担更加重要的角色,因为只有中国建筑师才能从根本上理解中国的问题,解决中国的问题。

Through the past ten years in the early 21st century, the architecture in China has made an impressive progress both in numbers and in quality. Among all these achievements, most of the landmark buildings were designed by overseas architects. Besides the high lights in cities, right attitudes towards Chinese realities are strongly necessary and demanded. Only based on this kind of understanding, Chinese cities could find our own ways to solve our own problems. Chinese architects must play more important roles in the challenging historic situation.
