In Desire Under the Elms, Abbie can stand on the honor list of human literary history for defending her love. However, her shift from Delilah to Angel does not follow the plots naturally, but represents an attempt by which O'neill tried to maintain a gender relationship that man was prior to woman. The author's latent tone was the anxiety about the overthrow of male authority. Through re-explaining and reading the text, feminism criticism found the spiritual control of male consciousness over women from a new perspective. When seizing the literary critique horizon, Abbie came to change from male power resister at the very beginning to an unconscious female emancipator, but finally returned to the world of male authority and fulfilled her "great" love tragedy by killing her baby. The aberrant maternity essentially embodied a kind of retribution of patriarchal society.
