中国高职英语教学“中国文化失语”现象调查

The Present Situation of Chinese Cultural Aphasia in Higher Vocational English Teaching in China

近十年来,众多英语教育工作者已意识到我国英语教学中存在"中国文化失语"现象,并就此展开了一系列调查研究,但针对高职英语教学中此现象的存在状况等问题涉猎不足。本文意参照教育部高教司推荐的《中国文化概况》中包含的文化知识,着重对高职院校学生及英语教师的中国文化知识掌握情况、用英语表达中国文化的能力及其对高职英语教学中存在"中国文化失语"现象的态度和对改进这一状况的期望等进行调查。分析后发现,现阶段高职院校学生对中国文化知识的掌握较好,却难以用英语表达,而高职英语教师翻译部分中国文化内容等能力也略显不足。中国文化知识在高职英语教学中的涉猎不足是导致"中国文化失语"现象产生的主要原因。高职院校学生及英语教师对克服这一状况怀有足够的信心和期待。

Since the Chinese Cuhural Aphasia in college English teaching in China was raised, many schol-ars have carried out the systemic investigations on this question. However, the present situation of Chinese Cultural Aphasia in higher vocational English teaching in China is not overall studied or focused. In this study, the condition that the higher vocational students and English teachers master the Chinese culture, translate the Chinese culture into English as well as the attitude they hold to the present situation of Chinese Cuhural Aphasia existing in higher vocational English teaching in China and their expection of improving that situation are investigated in terms of A Survey of Chinese Culture recommended by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. The re- sults demonstrate that the higher vocational students master the Chinese culture well, however, have lots of difficul- ties in translating them into English which are mainly caused by the lack of Chinese culture in higher vocational English teaching. Both the higher vocational students and English teachers hold enough confidence and expectationof improving that situation.
