Discussion About Essentials of Chengzhai Poetics

南宋诗人杨万里论诗多妙语 ,既是其创作经验的总结 ,也是“诚斋体”形成的理论宣言。其诗论的要点是 :注重诗教 ,有为而作 ;强调透脱 ,反对拘执 ;追求诗味 ,力避浅露 ;崇尚新变 。

With many witty remarks, Nan Song poet Yang Wanli's poetics is both a summary of his creative experience and a theoretical declaration of the formation of Chengzhai style. The main points of his poetics are: emphasis on poems' function of education while composing with accomplishment; strees on being free and easy while being againt formalism; pursuit of poetic flavour and avoidance of shallowness; and advocacy of change while being free from likeness in appearance.
