意义进化论理论溯源

On the theoretical origin and mechanism of the evolutionary theory of meaning

本文研究系统功能语言学的意义进化论与生命科学、Vygotsky心理学以及中国的阴阳学说间的理论渊源。研究表明,意义进化论中的个体发生和种系发生等术语最终可以追溯到19世纪的生命科学研究,但系统功能语言学更多是直接借鉴了Vygotsky的社会建构主义理论中的相应观点,此外还吸收了中国古代的阴阳学说用以说明语言系统层面的进化机制。因此,意义进化论不仅借鉴了西方的文化传统,而且吸收了东方的哲学思想,它的提出标志着系统功能语言学派语言哲学思想的丰富和完善。

This paper aims at tracking down the theoretical relationship between the evolutionary theory of meaning established in systemic functional linguistics and life science,Vygotskian psychology and ancient China's yin and yang theory.The study shows that while terms like ontogeny and phylogeny date back to 19 th century life science research,systemic functional linguistics has absorbed ideas of social constructivism put forward by Vygotsky,as well as ancient China's yin and yang theory to account for the mechanism of evolution at the lexicogrammatical stratum.It is argued that the evolutionary theory of meaning draws upon not only the western cultural tradition but also the oriental philosophical ideologies,which suggests richness and sophistication of systemic functional linguistics in its philosophy of language.
