占地3.24hm^2(8英亩)的911国家纪念广场位于占地6.48hm^2(16英亩)的纽约世贸中心原址,用来纪念在2001年9月11日和1993年2月26日的袭击中遇难的人们。纪念广场为冥想与沉思提供了一片场地,中央是两块位于原世贸中心双塔基座的倒映池,水池四周的矮墙上陈列着遇难者的姓名——这些姓名是根据一种"有意义的相邻"的法则排列的。广场中经过精挑细选的绿化空间成为前来纪念遇难者的人们的神圣场所,同时将纪念广场整合到整个城市之中。水池外壁的材质是喷雾花岗岩,写着姓名的铭牌由铜制成,并经过锈蚀处理,夜间会从内至外背光照明。

The 8-acre National September 11th Memorial is located in the midst of the 16-acre World Trade Center site,in honor of the victims of September 11,2001,and February 26,1993.The Memorial site offers a reserved space for meditation and contemplation, centered around two reflecting pools that sit in the footprints of the original World Trade Center Towers. Lining the perimeter of each fountain are parapets with the victims＇ names,arranged and inscribed according to an order of ＂meaningful adjacencies.＂ The fountains rest within a new plaza that presents carefully chosen green space acting as a sacred ground for those who come to honor the victims,while also integrating the Memorial into the surrounding city.The pools are clad in Jet Mist granite,and the name panels are made of bronze treated with a ferric based patina.At night,the names are illuminated from within.
