摘要
梅尔维尔创作于19世纪80年代后期的小说《比利·巴德》具有鲜明的后现代特色。作者发挥语言的视觉和听觉作用,运用插叙式陌生化、多文体等后现代手法,以无辜的比利之死唤醒读者对文明和人性的软弱进行反思并产生批判意识。
Herman Melville wrote Billy Budd in the late 1880s. The novel is distinctive of post-modernism. The author makes good use of audio and visual functions of the language, insertion narration to create the effect of estrangement, multi-styles and other post-modern methods. In narrating the death of Billy Budd, he tries to make his readers aware of the weaknesses of civilization and humanity and then to help them develop a critical consciousness of the weaknesses.
