英汉双解词典非语文成分译文管窥——以《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》(第7版)为例

A Probe into Chinese Translations of Non-literary Elements——Citing the 7th Edition of the Oxford AdvancedLearner's English-Chinese Dictionary as an Example

英汉双解词典是专为满足中国英语词典使用者之需的词典。译文的优劣关系重大。遗憾的是,其中非语文成分的译文质量堪忧。以《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》(第7版)为例,非语文成分的译文存在三大问题:误译、拙译和术语欠规范。

English-Chinese dictionaries are designed to effectively help Chinese users. Its Chinese translations are of great importance. Unfortunately, non-literary elements are poorly rendered. Citing the 7th edition of the Oxford Advanced Learner＇ s English-Chinese Dictionary as an example, this paper finds three major problems with its rendering of these elements, i. e. mistranslation, lay translation, and nonstandard terminology.
