Through a New Historicism interpretation of Thomas Wolfe's The Child by Tiger, the article attempts to decode the historical and political meanings implied in the text: the alien's subversion of power is actually the trap set by power;the power consequently strengthens its control through "incorporation" and "containment" of the subversive forces.
