The Inheritance and Innovation of Jiangnan Culture

自古以来,江南地区就以经济、教育和文化的发达著称于世,在古代中国文明中创造了高度发达的文明生活方式与独具个性的区域文化传统。区域内的吴文化、越文化和海派文化联系密切,相关性很强。特别是在改革开放以后,以上海为首位城市的长江三角洲地区,正在形成一个在经济社会与文化上联系更加密切的城市共同体,并最有希望发展成为一个世界级的大城市群。这是作为其区域文化传统的江南文化在当下越来越重要的根源。从当代江南城市的相关研究看,主要集中在经济社会方面,对这一区域的文化资源与文化发展明显重视不够,有些研究即使涉及到文化层面,也主要偏重于对西方消费文化、时尚文化的引进与介绍,明显忽视了对江南地区的区域文化传统的研究。实际上,江南地区特有的人文地理、社会结构及文化传统等,不仅直接参与了江南社会的历史建构,也在更深的层次上影响着它在今天的发展以及在未来的存在。

Jiangnan has been renowned m the world lor its advanced economy, education and culture, and people m Jiangnan created the highly advanced and civilized life style and unique regional cultural tradition. In this region, Wu Culture, Yue Cuhure and the Ocean Style Culture were closely related to each other. After the performance of the reform and open-up policy, cities within the Yangtze River Delta began to be united into a urban common wealth, and it is expected that it will be developed into a world-class urban agglomeration. This is the deep-root of the importance of Jiangnan culture. The existing researches on cities in Jiangnan focus on their economy while keep their cultural resources and cuhural development in the shadow. Even though some researches mention the culture of these cities more or less, they just concentrate on the introduction of western commercial culture and fashion.
