王际真翻译策略选择的制约因素分析——以老舍作品翻译为例

A Study on the Constraints of Translation Strategy Selection Made by Chi-Chen Wang

翻译策略选择是译者翻译过程中必须首先考虑和解决的重要问题。文章整合文化学派及解构学派翻译理论合理内核并借鉴"优选论"制约理念,通过综合分析,探讨老舍短篇小说主要译者,即海外著名翻译家王际真增译、改译、删译的归化翻译策略及粗言詈语的异化翻译策略,旨在归纳并分析其策略选择的真正制约因素。结果表明,译者翻译策略选择受到文本内及文本外各种因素的制约,这种制约具有层级性和动态性特点,尤其是制约因素层级排列的差异性形成了译者不同的翻译策略。

The adoption of translation strategy is a necessity to any translator. This paper explores the translation strategies of Chi-Chen Wang with respect to Lao She＇s stories in light of Translation Studies, Deconstructionists as well as the core notion of Optimality Theory. Specifically, the domesticating strategies are displayed through additions, rewriting and bowdlerization as opposed to the foreignzing strategies applied in the translation of swear words. It is to aim at the analysis of the textual and extra textual constraining factors which give rise to the selection of different strategies. It can be concluded that this constraint mechanism features hierarchy and dynamics. It is the distinction of the ranking of constraints that leads to the difference in the selection of translation strategies.
