杜牧是晚唐时代最突出的诗人之一。由于他家世优越,少年早慧,并较早地以政治和历史的眼光视世,所以对晚唐社会的黑暗与破败,认识得十分深刻。他以这种主体性的存在,化为诗的创作,则显示出积蕴深厚的审美情思与俊爽峭健的艺术风格,在唐代诗坛上以"小杜"标列为与众不同的特出诗人。

Du Mu is the most famous poet during the The Late Tang Dynasty. Because of the richness of his family and the intelligence ,he recognized the darkness and decadence in the late Tang Dynasty deeply based on the politics and history. He created his work by this situation, and expressed rich emotion of aesthetic appreciation and artistic style, which made him become the different outstanding poet named ＂Xiao Du＂.
