摘要随着城市化进程的推进,行政区划调整逐渐成为区域经济整合的一种重要方式。现有文献多从财政分权和官员晋升竞争等角度解释我国区域发展,较少分析行政整合对地区发展的作用和影响。本文以2003年广东佛山"撤市建区"行政区划调整作为案例,采用合成控制法进行了实证分析,评估了行政整合对地区发展的重要影响。本文的发现表明地区内部行政区划调整能够实现市场整合,优化内部资源配置,加快地方经济增长。这为我国地级层面近年出现的"撤市建区"行政区划调整现象提供了一个经济学上的解释。 The existing literature tends to explain the market segmentation of China from the view point of fiscal competition and promotion competition between local governments and officials, and has neglected the role and effect of local governments and officials on the regional internal market. This paper breaks through this limitation, analyzes the influence of local government on the internal market. Using synthetic control method and taking the administrative division adjustment of Foshan, Guangdong in 2003 as the sample case, this paper does empirically confirm that the suitable administrative division adjustment can achieve market integration, optimize internal resource allocation and speed up the local economic growth. It provides an economic explanation for the phenomenon of ＂withdrawal of county - level city and renewal district＂ in recent years in China.
