On the Skills of Translating Japanese Laws and Legal Treatises

翻译日文法律论著必须遵循"忠实"、"通顺"和使用"法言法语"这三条标准。"忠实"要求准确传达原文内容,是法律翻译的根本和前提。"通顺"是字句要顺、明白、流畅,使译文更加完美。而"法言法语"要求使用法律专业用语,是法律翻译的"点晴"之处。从事法律翻译,除了具备严肃认真、一丝不苟的工作态度,有较好的日语专业知识和一定的法律专业知识外,还需要掌握一定的翻译技巧。

Japanese translation of the law must follow three criteria including ＂faith＂, ＂coherence＂ and the use of ＂legal terms＂. ＂Faithfulness＂ requires conveying the original content accurately, which is the foundation and premise of the translation of the law. ＂Coherence＂ is to make the translated text smooth, understandable and fluent so that it can be more perfect. The use of ＂legal terms＂ is ＂the crucial point＂ of translation of the laws. Besides a serious and meticulous attitude, being engaged in legal translation requires not only a good knowledge of Japanese language and a certain degree of legal expertise, but also some translation skills.
