摘要
本文从整体上分析奎因的翻译哲学。奎因翻译哲学的主要贡献为:1)从本体论上,论证了语言间的可译性;2)从认识论上,论证了翻译标准的多元性,证明不存在唯一正确的翻译;3)从方法论上,探索了原始翻译的过程。奎因翻译哲学的局限性为:1)行为主义和自然主义的意义观;2)由于分析的仅是原始翻译的特殊情况,奎因的语句类型难以界定,难以操作。
This paper attempts at a thorough examination of Quine＇s philosophy of translation.Quine＇s contribution lies in：1） ontological validation of translatability;2） epistemological corroboration of the indeterminacy of translation;3） methodological probe of radical translation.Quine＇s limitations are：1） a behaviorist view on meaning;2） fuzziness and impracticability of sentence categorization.
