The development of the Xiahou family in Qiao County in the Han and Jin Dynasties is closely linked with the Cao family.But these two families have their unique paths,interacting with the cultural trends at that time.From the collapse of the late Han Dynasty to the building-up of the Wei Dynasty,the Xiahou family,characterized by their open-mindedness,tried their best to support Cao Cao and his sons.In the Wei Dynasty,they held important positions and acquired increasingly elevated social status.The Xiahou family gradually acquired the refined and learned style,completing a shift from its military origin.Under the reign of Emperor Zhengshi,Xiahou Xuan enhanced the prestige of his family by his high political position and elegant manners,which made his family first-class noblemen.Even after the crackdown by the Sima Family in the Jin dynasty,the Xiahou Family maintained the noble status.Xiahou Jun and Xiahou Zhan,the rising stars in the family,were famous for down-to-earth attitudes in politics or unique literary style in the description of family bond.They both embodied the striking characters of the Xiahou family.
