摘要 Though the labonachip or microfluidics field can nov be considered well established and perhaps even maturafter more than two decades, it continues to grow. Type il "lab chip" or "microfluidics" into the Web of ScienceTM ant you'll see what I mean. At the time of writing this article there were 8029 published items, which had been citer 100,676 times altogether. An astounding number in fact "lab chip" or "microfluidics" has an Hindex of 131, asta tistic that many chemists, analytical or otherwise, have con tributed to over the years. The number of published paper continues to increase with each successive year, with mort than 1400 of the 8029 articles mentioned above appearin in 2011 alone. We are offto a good start in 2012, with mort than 150 papers published in January. At this rate, the tota number of papers in 2012 will easily surpass that of 2011 Clearly, more and more researchers continue to enter tht labonachip field, ensuring a healthy and dynamic re search climate internationally. Though the lab-on-a-chip-or microfluidics-field can now be considered well established and perhaps even mature after more than two decades, it continues to grow.
