The most striking images created by Lu Xun are those of widows in rural area,which are the focus of Lu Xun′s observation of Chinese folk society,and the key to Lu Xun′s view on women.By probing into the images of rural widows in his novels and tracing the custom of ＂Bijiao＂（forcing widows to remarry）,the paper demonstrates Lu Xun′s unique thought and understanding of Chinese society and women liberation.In his view,economic prowess is the fundamentation for the liberation of women,the enlightenment of intellectuals and the independence of Chinese nation.
