Wang Zunxian,the first person to study Japan in modern China,played a leading role in the cultural exchange between China and Japan in the late Qing Dynasty.He was a preeminent poet,historian,politician and diplomat.His The Annals of Japan presents us with a comprehensive and detailed introduction of Japan during the time after the Meiji Reform.It could be considered as the guidance and the theoretical basis to the Wuxu Reform in modern China.The paper,based on the analysis of The Annals of Japan,discusses his special contributions to the Sino-Japan cultural exchange in terms of political thought,economic thought,military thought and cultural thought.
