This paper introduces the remarkable energy saving and emission reduction effect based on science and technology innovation of petrochemical industry during the 1 lth five-year plan, points out four major indicators, analyzes the difficulties that faces energy saving and emission reduction work currently, and presents that energy saving and emission reduction has been considered to be industry growth area. It also stress that petrochemical industry needs to rely on science and technology to complete energy saving and emission reduction task of the 12th five-year plan.
