On Side Effects of Praise in Teaching

表扬与批评都是对人的行为表现进行的评价,是一件事情的两个方面,目的其实是一致的,都是为了促进学生健康成长。但是,我们往往夸大了批评的副作用,忽略了表扬的副作用。表扬的副作用包括以下几点:导致学生内驱动力降低,产生表扬依赖,形成被动性人格,自我评价失真,打击未得到表扬的学生。因此,教师在教学过程中必须掌握表扬的技巧,采取正确的表扬方法。

Just like two sides of a coin,praise and criticism are the evaluations of the people＇s behaviors.Their purpose is actually consistent,which is to promote the students＇ growth.however,we tend to overestimate the side effects of the criticism but ignore the ones of praise.The side effects of praise are such as： on one hand,the students who get praise are led to their low drive,relying on praise,forming passive personality,and evaluating themselves incorrectly.On the other hand the students who have not obtained the praise feel hurt.Therefore,the teacher must grasp the skills of praise and take the right measures in the course of instruction.
