Applying Classroom Techniques to Improve the English Reading Ability of Students

高职高专英语教学的主要任务之一是培养学生的阅读理解能力,通过有效的教学途径,来提高学生的阅读能力显得尤为必要。阅读能力的提高,需要通过课堂教学培养学生科学的、正确的阅读方法,包括扩大词汇量,并学会猜测词义和语义;帮助学生养成良好的阅读习惯;拓展学生的文化视野,发展他们跨文化交际的意识等等。

One of the main tasks in English teaching in Higher Vocational Colleges is to develop the reading comprehension ability of students. It is particularly necessary to improve the reading ability of students through effective teaching approaches. The improvement of reading ability requires training the scientific and correct reading method for students through classroom teaching, including the enlarge- ment of vocabulary and learning to guess the meaning and semantics of words and helping students devel- op good reading habits and expanding cultural horizons of students and developing their cross- cultural communication awareness and so on.
