VLC可变字长编码在LCD OSD字库压缩中的应用

OSD Font Compression Application Based on VLC for LCD TV/Monitor

由于液晶电视的功能越来越强大,OSD显示越来越复杂,所需要的字库越来越大,液晶电视内的Flash存储空间略显不足,必须采取一定的字库压缩方式。基于此思路,提出了可变字长压缩编码(VLC),此压缩算法在实际嵌入式软件中,压缩比可以达到1.5,能有效节省Flash的空间。

Because the function of LCD TV/Monitor is more and more strong, and On Screen Display （OSD） is more and more difficuh, so it needs more flash space to load font library. But in limited flash space, it should import compression algorithm. In this paper, the Variable Length Coding （VLC） compression coding is brought forward, and compression ratio is up to 1.5 in embedded software application, so it can better save the flash storage space.
