“钟离氏”族姓考

On the Lineage Name of “Zhongli shi”

钟离国为嬴姓,以国为氏称钟离氏,于是有赢姓钟离氏。伯州犁奔楚后,楚以钟离邑为其采邑。伯州犁之后以其采邑为氏亦称钟离氏,于是有子姓钟离氏。子姓钟离氏与嬴姓钟离氏迥异,断不可混为一谈。

The Zhongli kingdom employed ying as its surname. Later, offspring of the Zhongli called thernselves Ying of the Zhongli lineage. After Bo Zhouli defected to Chu, and Chu bestowed Zhongii township as his fief, Bo Zhouli＇s descendants took the township name, Zhongii, as their surname. Thus, they called themselves Zi of the Zhongli lineage. The Zi of Zhongli are different from the Ying of Zhongli and these two should not be conflated.
