The vision for the development of PyroTex was to create a new ＂safety fiber＂. For this purpose, a list was created with the properties that appeared essential： flame-retardant, heat resistant, UV and solvent-resistant, acid/alkaline resistant, usable in apparel and technical textiles, processable on all spinning systems and as nonwovens, Oeko-Tex certified and dyeable. These properties united within the fiber would already be remarkable and new - but additional properties were to be integrated, too. PyroTex is an acrylic fiber that is modified in such a way that all listed properties are inherent. It is important to note that it is not a modacrylic and that substances such as halogens and antimony are not used. PyroTex can be delivered in all common staple lengths （38 - 80 mm）.
