The protective cap is a crucial consumable component in a sintering machine. It is generally cast with conven- tional alloy steel, thus having a relatively short service life. By redesigning the cap structure and further alloying the steel for making the cap, the service life of the protective cap was remarkably elongated. The relevant technique is described in the article.
