Yan Yi writes about every aspect of the modern Chinese culture. Since he begins his literarycareer during the wars Yan Yi tries sonnets soon after the liberation, narratives during the cultural revolu- tion, and philosophical accounts during reforms. His works are deeply rooted in the diversified folk stories in the 1990s. All this reflects his strong sense of obligations as an intellectual in the context Of global cul- ture.
