The financial crisis triggered by subprime crisis exposes the inappropriate selling of financial products, particularly the impact of financial fraud and abuse on the interests of public investors, and reflects the gaps in protecting consumers' interests by the regulatory authorities. In the wake of subprime crisis, the regulatory authorities of all countries recognize that focusing exclusively on the interests of financial institutions but ignoring the protection of consumers' interests will undermine the basis on which the financial industry builds and affect the stability of financial system. Therefore, strengthening financial consumer protection becomes an impor- tant task for all financial regulatory authorities. The paper mainly introduces the practice of financial consumer right protection in Canada and its implications to China in this field.
