King Lear, the protagonist in Shakespeare's tragedy King Lear, experiences dramatic changes both in character and in acceptance by its readers. At first,King Lear seems to stand at some distance from its readers in terms of ethics, value, rationality, emotion and thought, but finally the readers have accepted all aspects of him,a reflection of the author's conviction and criteria merging into the readers'.This ideal change in distance between the author and the readers helps produce satisfactory artistic effects and plays a key role in the creation of the characters and the enhancement of its theme.
