Odour of Chrysanthemums and Modernists＇ Consciousness of Death

本文结合劳伦斯的死亡哲学分析他的名作《菊花的幽香》中“死亡”的功能和内涵，挖掘出现代派作家对死亡关注背后的自我意识觉醒，即只有面对死亡，面对自然的直接性，才能获得重生，实现真正的存在。

This paper attempts to discuss D. H. Lawrence＇s death philosophy embodied in his works by analyzing the function and implication of death in his famous short story Odour of Chrysanthemum. Finally, it is revealed that modernists＇ interest in death brings about a revelation of self-consciousness, namely, only if one faces up to death, or rather, to the pure nature, one can realize one＇s true self and resurrect oneself.
