积极参与“国际减轻自然灾害十年”活动

JOINT WITH "INTERNATIONAL DECADE FOR NATURAL DISASTER REDUCTION" ACTIVITIES VIGOROUSLY

1987年12月11日第42届联大通过169号决议,确定1990年—2000年为国际减轻自然灾害十年。(简称“国际减灾十年”)。这项活动的宗旨是,通过国际上的一致努力,将当前世界上特别是发展中国家因自然灾害造成的损失减轻到最低程度。具体目标为:通过广泛的国际合作、技术援助和转让、项目示范、教育与培训手段,推广和应用目前已经拥有的减轻自然灾害的科学技术和经验,提高各国特别是发展中国家的防灾、抗灾能力。去年12月,第44届联大上又通过了联合国经济及社会理事会关于国际减轻自然灾害十年的报告,宣布“减灾十年”于1990年1月1日开始,并指定每年10月的第二周的星期三为国际减轻自然灾害日,确认了“国际减轻自然灾害十年国际行动纲领”。

The International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) sponsored by United Nations has begun on January 1, this year. Our government calls us going into action on IDNDR. This paper introduces that the National Natural Science Foundation of China has been funding 170 projects related directly to reduction of natural disaster with total amount of funds of about 10million yuan (RMB), and that it will futher play its funding, guiding and coordinating functions in scientific research work on IDNDR in coming years.
